Terms of Use
These terms are the end user license agreement for the HoverDeck iPhone app and the rules for using hoverdeck.app. They are an agreement between you and the operator of HoverDeck (“HoverDeck,” “we,” “us”), not with Apple. The App Store listing should point here and to the Privacy Policy. For the operator’s legal name and postal address, email support@hoverdeck.app.
Safety
Read this section before you rely on the app. It is the part that matters if you only read one.
- HoverDeck is not an FAA authorization tool. A Go verdict is not permission to fly.
- You are the pilot in command, whether you fly under the recreational exception or under 14 CFR Part 107. HoverDeck does not decide which rules apply to your flight.
- Where airspace requires authorization, use LAANC (opens in a new tab) or the other FAA process that applies. Check B4UFLY (opens in a new tab) , or the official FAA tool that succeeds it, before you launch.
- Temporary flight restrictions, Notices to Air Missions, local rules, and conditions in the field can change after a screen is shown. If HoverDeck and an official FAA source disagree, the official source controls. FAA restriction listings are published at tfr.faa.gov (opens in a new tab) .
- The app is not air traffic control, a flight service station, or a required weather briefing. It does not replace any check a regulation requires you to make yourself.
- Do not fly because the app said Go. Do not skip a flight solely because you would rather not think about the chart. Use the verdict as one input, then make the decision.
The service
HoverDeck shows flight-conditions information for small unmanned aircraft: a Go, Caution, or No-Go verdict, wind, gusts, wind at altitude on HoverDeck Pro, Kp and other space-weather context, FAA airspace and temporary flight restriction awareness, hourly and daily forecasts on Pro, job modes such as Real Estate and FPV on Pro, and, on Pro, Home Screen widgets, Live Activities, and Apple Watch. Features can change as the app is updated. The pricing page describes what is in Free and what is in Pro at the time you read it. The App Store purchase sheet controls the price and length of a subscription.
License
The app is licensed, not sold. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use HoverDeck on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as allowed by the Apple Media Services terms and the usage rules in the App Store. You may not copy the app except as those rules allow, rent it, reverse engineer it except where a statute forbids that limit, or use it to build a competing service by scraping the product.
You do not receive any right in our name, the interface, or the text and graphics on this website, other than the right to view them while using HoverDeck. Third-party data, including weather, space weather, and airspace information, stays subject to the provider’s terms.
Weather, airspace, and other data
Forecasts and airspace displays are estimates. They can be wrong, late, missing, or misunderstood. Sources include Open-Meteo, NOAA, and FAA publications and services. A source can be unavailable. A Kp value, a wind figure, or a “no TFR” line is not a guarantee that the sky matches the screen, and it is not a statement that a flight is legal.
Job modes change which limits the verdict treats strictly. They do not change the regulations, and they do not make a site safe.
Accounts
An account is optional. You are responsible for the activity under your account and for keeping access to your email or Apple ID. You can delete the account in the app, as described in the Privacy Policy. Deleting an account or deleting the app does not cancel a paid subscription.
Free, and HoverDeck Pro
The free tier lets you check a verdict and the current read described on the pricing page. HoverDeck Pro is an auto-renewing subscription sold by Apple.
Auto-renewing subscription
- Title. HoverDeck Pro.
- Length. One year.
- Price. About $20–30 per year in the United States before tax. The price you agree to is the price Apple displays on the purchase sheet, including tax if Apple shows it there. That displayed price is the price charged at confirmation and the price of each renewal, unless Apple shows you a different renewal price before the renewal.
- Payment. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
- Renewal. The subscription renews automatically unless you turn auto-renew off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Renewal charge. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period, at the renewal price identified above.
- Manage or cancel. You manage the subscription, and you can turn off auto-renew, in your Apple ID subscription settings (Settings, your name, Subscriptions). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you already paid for. The period is not refunded by HoverDeck merely because you canceled early.
- Free trials. HoverDeck does not currently include a free trial. If a free trial is offered, any unused portion of that trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription, where that rule applies.
- Refunds. Apple processes the charge. Refund requests go to Apple, for example through Report a Problem (opens in a new tab) . We cannot charge or refund a card we never see.
Pro features are the ones described on the HoverDeck pricing page when you subscribe, as they may be updated in the app during an active period. We may add or retire a feature. If we retire something you paid for and the law requires a remedy, we will follow that law. Apple’s rules for subscriptions also apply.
Acceptable use
You will not:
- Use HoverDeck to violate aviation law or to pretend the app authorized a flight.
- Interfere with the service, probe it without permission, or overload it.
- Misrepresent a verdict as an official FAA product.
- Resell access to the app or to the data screens as a competing feed.
Intellectual property
HoverDeck, the app, and the contents of this website (other than third-party data and the Outfit typeface) are owned by the operator of HoverDeck or its licensors. Outfit is used under the SIL Open Font License. Open-Meteo, NOAA, FAA, Apple, and Supabase names belong to their owners. Mentioning a source does not imply that the source endorses HoverDeck.
Disclaimer of warranties
The app, the website, and the forecasts are provided “as is” and “as available.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, quiet enjoyment, and non-infringement, and any warranty that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Some places do not allow those disclaimers. In those places, they apply only as far as the law allows. A statutory right you cannot waive stays with you.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, HoverDeck and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, grounding, enforcement action, property damage, or personal injury arising from a decision to fly or not to fly, from reliance on a forecast or an airspace display, or from use of the app or this website.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for a claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid for HoverDeck Pro in the twelve months before the claim, or fifty U.S. dollars if you paid nothing. This limit does not apply where the law forbids it, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence where a cap is not allowed, or any liability that cannot legally be limited.
You use operational judgment. The app does not.
Apple
If you downloaded HoverDeck from the Apple App Store, these points also apply, as Apple requires for a custom end user license:
- This agreement is between you and HoverDeck only, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
- The license is limited to a non-transferable right to use the app on Apple-branded products that you own or control, under the usage rules in the Apple Media Services terms.
- HoverDeck is solely responsible for maintenance and support. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
- If the app fails a warranty that the law requires and that Apple’s rules do not disclaim, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price of the app. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app. Any other claim, loss, or liability is HoverDeck’s, not Apple’s.
- HoverDeck, not Apple, is responsible for claims relating to the app or to your possession or use of it, including product-liability claims, claims that the app fails a legal or regulatory requirement, and consumer-protection claims.
- If a third party claims the app, or your possession and use of it, infringes intellectual property rights, HoverDeck, not Apple, is responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, and discharge of that claim.
- You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must comply with applicable third-party terms when you use the app, including your wireless-data agreement.
- Apple and Apple’s subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms. Once you accept them, Apple may enforce them against you.
- Questions, complaints, or claims: support@hoverdeck.app. A postal address is available from that inbox.
Changes, suspension, and ending
We may update these terms by posting a new version on this page and changing the date at the top. If you keep using HoverDeck after the new date, you are accepting the updated terms for that later use. A subscription period you already paid for stays subject to the terms shown when that period started, and a renewal is subject to the terms in effect when it renews.
You may stop using HoverDeck at any time by deleting the app and, if you subscribe, canceling in your Apple ID settings. We may suspend or end access if you materially break these terms. Ending access does not cancel an Apple subscription by itself.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules that would send the dispute somewhere else only because of those rules. If you are a consumer, you keep the mandatory protections of the place where you live. We have not selected a court venue in this version of the terms. Email support@hoverdeck.app and we will tell you the operating entity. Nothing here limits a right you have to bring a claim in a court the law requires us to accept.
